Quality Cranes and Dollies You Can Rely On
Cranes & Dollies
The Zebra Motion control camera dolly is our smallest, quietest, and most portable full motion control rig. It has a maximum lens height of approximately 10′.
Our brand new, Gazelle motion control camera crane is our medium motion control rig. It has a maximum lens height of approximately 11.5 feet in its standard configuration, but the rig can be reconfigured to reach as high as 12.5 feet.
The Graphlite motion control camera crane is our largest motion control rig. In its normal configuration, it has a maximum lens height of almost 16 feet, but with the addition of an available riser and arm extension, it can have a lens height of almost 20 feet. Additionally, the Graphite has the longest reach of any of our motion control rigs, with a maximum distance of over 15 feet from pivot point to lens nodal.
UPDATE!!! – The Graphlite is now available as a mobile gantry motion control camera rig! Call Pacific Motion Control at 818-768-1573 for more details. Pictures and video coming soon.
The Impala is a one of a kind, fast, lightweight motion control crane with a versatile four foot arm and modular body, which allows the rig to be used in multiple configurations.
Pacific Motion is very excited to announce the availability of the Technodolly Programmable Telescoping Camera Crane. This state-of-the-art rig is based on the Techno 15, but adds programmable, repeatable motion and nearly silent operation with advanced direct drive motors and gearless operation. The Technodolly’s maximum lens height is over 15 feet, and it has a maximum track speed of over 6.5 feet per second.
In addition to our extensive line of full motion control rigs, we also offer several other products to suit your needs. With a top speed of 18 feet per second, the Cheetah Dolly is the fastest motion control dolly around and is perfect for ultra high-speed motion control moves. Our Bogey Dollies feature precision stepper and servo track motors for reliable repeatability and can be configured with either a motion control Pan/Tilt or Pan/Tilt/Roll head. We also have a number of motion control turntables, model movers, variacs (for precision control of lights and other electrical equipment), and accessories. Additionally, we can provide custom or modified equipment to suit your needs.
The Sorensen Design Zebra Motion Control Camera Dolly finally brings practical motion control to the live-action set. Its quick set-up and versatile configuration make it the perfect tool when a motorized dolly is needed.
The Zebra matches live-action speeds on a variety of straight and curved track. Its telescopic column can be used as a camera pedestal, or with the swing-axis job arm for a continuous 57 inches of vertical travel. The three-axis head can be mounted above or below the arm to get the lens to floor level or to a height of over ten feet.
A truly lightweight, portable, motion control system, the Gazelle Motion Control Camera System is built with carbon fiber composite technology and sized optimally for live-action use. A six-foot boom arm allows for a lens height of up over ten feet in its standard configuration, and over 10 feet in alternate configurations.
The Gazelle will accept a variety of 35mm film cameras, Vistavision and digital cameras with overslung and underslung pan, tilt and roll head options. This system is easily assembled without the aid of heavy equipment.
Comparably light for its size and also utilizing carbon fiber composite technology, the Graphlite Motion Control Camera System has twice the reach of the Gazelle Motion Control Camera Crane. A twelve-foot arm allows for a camera lens height of up to 12 feet, and with an optional arm extension and riser, the Graphlite can reach a maximum lens height of almost 18 feet. The Graphlite is sturdy enough to hold full-size camera packages including large 3D camera rigs and film cameras with 1000′ mags.
The Graphlite will accept a variety of 35mm, Vistavision, and digital cameras, with overslung and underslung pan, tilt, and roll head options.
The all-new overhead Graphlite rig is our latest motion control camera system. While overhead motion control camera systems are not new to the film industry, the capabilities of the overhead Graphlite are unmatched. Due to new engineering features designed by Mike Sorensen at Sorensen Design Int., we now have a rig that can be mounted overhead with all of the same features that it has while working on the ground. The rig makes it possible to shoot a whole new range of shots in a way that were previously not possible. We recently used it on a feature film rigged overhead on 48 feet of track (see photos and videos). The shots included everything from a 48-foot track move with boom/swing/pan/and tilt axis weaving through 100 extras, a 1080 degree continuous swing move, and a 48-foot track move with a boom move that incorporated a 360 degree pan move while directly over the talent. The rig can be programed for an exact repeatable camera move, or we are also able to have all axis operated live from remote encoders by the film crew. It is equally comfortable shooting live action as it is shooting miniatures.
Some of the benefits to using the Overhead Graphlite rig are:
- The ability to shoot an overhead circular shot without ever seeing the rig or track.
- No obstructions on the set so cast, crew, and set design can move around freely.
- Able to do camera tracking moves on a set that is uneven, has multiple levels, or has obstructions.
- Ability to move rig from shot to shot, in different locations of the set, quickly, without having to disturb or move anything on the set.
The feature film that the Graphlite worked on was shot with a 3D camera system weighing 90lbs. There were several shots that would have been traditionally operated by a steady cam operator, but due to the weight, and multiple levels to the set, it was impossible to shoot with a Steadicam. In Addition the set had two levels and with the rig mounted overhead we were able to perform tracking shots at ground level and at the second level of the set.
Pacific Motion Control is proud to introduce the new Impala motion control crane. The Impala is a one of a kind, fast, lightweight motion control crane with a versatile four foot arm and modular body, which allows the rig to be used in multiple configurations. The Impala features a stable and nimble aluminum jib and can be easily be moved into the most remote locations. The Impala handles every camera from lightweight HD cameras to full-sized 35mm film cameras and can be configured with either a pan/tilt or pan/tilt/roll head.
The Impala currently resides in our Southern California location but shares its time between Los Angeles and Texas.
The Cheetah Dolly motion control base is a track system that can either be programmed to do a tracking move, or operated live with an encoder control, and then played back through Kuper motion control software. In addition, it can also be used in the “non motion control mode” with our motor speed controller to accomplish a consistent precision tracking speed. You can use it as a tracking system only or mount a pan/tilt or pan/tilt/roll head to it.
Camera lens height can be set at a fixed position ranging from 6in. to 8ft. by using anything from a low hat to tall camera sticks. In addition, an offset arm can be added for repositioning of the camera head. It can either ride on our Sorensen Design track, which is extremely stable and still light enough to take anywhere or different diameters of curved track. Track speed can range from time-lapse mode to 18 feet per second, with track runs ranging from 4 feet to 150 feet. The Cheetah Dolly can be utilized to move a wide range of objects other than a camera such as: lights, props, or people.
Physical Specs:
Width: 30 in. to 6 ft.
Length: 30 in. to 8 ft.
